Cidade completa 300 anos junto com a esperada Copa de 2014
Dias 15 e 16 de Outubro, sexta e sábado respectivamente, mais uma edição do PitaPirou irá agitar o munícipio de Pitangui-MG. O tradicional carnaval fora de época, uma realização da Bezerro.Com em parceria com a Prefeitura Municipal, que nesse ano conta com shows de Cheiro de Amor, Tomate, Rodrigo Bergall (autor do hino da Divina Folia), Comunidade Batuque e Samba Brother, já se consolidou no calendário oficial da cidade, de onde muito ouro foi extraído quando o Brasil ainda era colônia de exploração de Portugal.
A sétima Vila do Ouro das Gerais, como Pitangui é conhecida, é o distrito mais antigo do Centro-Oeste mineiro, localizada na bacia do Rio São Francisco (o Velho Chico) e distante apenas 130 Km da capital mineira. Antigamente era moradia de muitos quilambolas, escravos fugidos.
Para os turistas, é um excelente destino. O povo hospitaleiro garante a satisfação e a alegria das pessoas que visitam suas terras à procura de tranqüilidade, sossego e de muita história contada em seus becos, ladeiras, igrejas, casarões coloniais, e belíssimas antigas fazendas preservadas que expressam os ideais de lutas e cobiça pelo ouro que brotava das entranhas da cidade. Os pontos turísticos impressionam: Mina da Lavagem, Sobrado do Padre Belchior (amigo do Imperador Dom I), Museu Sacro Mosenhor Vicente Soares, entre outros.
Como dizem seus cronistas, uma cidade cheia de amores para contar, de desamores também, de lendas em noites frias e cheias de sereno. O rico artesanato da cidade oferece aos visitantes objetos cuidadosamente trabalhados, como peneiras, vassouras, gaiolas, cestos, balaios, sabão de cinza, utensílios em folhas de flandres, redes para pesca, bordados e peças em barro.
Passar o final de semana do 10º PitaPirou em Pitangui é uma excelente oportunidade para conhecer uma das cidades mais importantes de nossa história e ao mesmo tempo estar em contato com o clima do campo em uma das mais belas e agradáveis estações do ano, a Primavera. Claro que durante o dia. De noite os foliões podem curtir muita axé music. E mordomias não faltam. O camarote da micareta é todo de alvenaria e ganhou fama nacional.
